I had a big long reply typed out for Mira Blackhand and Reverend Dr, with reasons for why people get aggravated and tend to harass individuals online, requiring a long term /ignore.

But then I figured, seeing their attitude, they're probably classic examples of individuals I'd /ignore in GW permanently anyway, so with that said, meh.

ON TOPIC: I don't see how increasing ignore limit negatively impacts ANYONE, so what's the harm?

As for the 10 slots, I have a person who own multiple accounts on one list, and that person takes up as many as 4 slots. Then there are other people who I simply do not wish to talk to, but if I ever take them off, they start spamming me again. Maybe I should increase my tolerance for 10-14 year olds? I dunno!
This exactly.
I'm not anti-social in the least. I have my friends list poeple I talk to I have my guild and ally chat alway on.
Local chat half the time in towns all I see is lame chuck norris jokes being spammed or someone calling someone else a noob for asking a question.
Or just random insults towards people.
To me people who actually WANT to watch this non-sense are the ones with the problem not me.

As i've said before I have 1 person on perma ignore that has FIVE accounts.
thats half my ignore list on ONE person. People have no lives and I for one don't have that much time to deal with them when I come on a game to have FUN. Not deal with idiotic people.

That's my feeling on it.

I've never had a full ignore list, every single person that I've ignored I've been able to remove from the ignore list after a bit of time had passed. But I also can't think of a reason to limit the ignore list as much as it is now.

Same could be said for the Friends list, but that's a different topic, I suppose.

Increase friends and ignore.

I always run out of room, I have to take people off my friends that I don't want to, just cause they haven't logged on for awhile and I need to add someone else.

And ignore, ah well... Take these forums for a prime example of there being a lot of retards that would be nice to not have to read.

Sometimes that isn't even enough.

Funny story:

The other day, I was sitting in LA on my male ele with chat turned off, looking through party search trying to find buyers for some stuff I had. I was drinking my halloween ale at the same time. A few miniutes later, I, minding my own business, get a PM going "WTF, are you gay?" The guy then reported me.
Why?
Because my character, while drunk, had the speech bubble "I love you man" pop up over his head while this guy was next to me.

So be warned, even if you are doing nothing wrong and just sitting in town, minding your own buisness, you can still be harassed. That is why GW needs to allow bigger ignore lists, because so many people in this game are just that stupid and need to be put on ignore.

Is this a problem on an individual level, no. But when it reaches a much larger level, such as that of a whole gaming population, it does become a bigger issue. I have GM'ed back in the day and let me tell you it is an interesting prospect to have self-righteous unaware people hurl worse insults at you than were hurled at them for the report in the first place. By far almost every report filed was given the solution "Just let it go." The usual response to that is "But I want to have fun!" And the response I've given to that, "The only one stopping you right now, is you."

Perhaps you are just an unfortunate victim that needs 50 ignore slots. Or perhaps myself and all of the other people with 0 on ignore lists know something you do not.

You're right thats pretty funny. lol
Better though that the report will go against him not you.
these people are the exact reason why we need a better ignore system.
More spaces and they really shouldnt be told they are on ignore.
The 1 person I have on mine that has 5 accounts would get on his other accounts telling me I can shove the ignore up my ass until I finally got them all on ignore.
Personally I wish Guru had an ignore system where you wouldnt see there posts. So hard to not read the posts and reply because they are being SO stupid but must resist, would make it easier
But ya you can mind your own buisness and still get harrassed and sometimes by kids with nothing better to do than spam you.

some people incessantly message over several months. it's possible to manually ignore, but it makes communicating with other people difficult. the incessant messages infringes on the ability to play the game. it's possible to take them off after a while, but as soon as they're taken off, the messages make it once again hard to play. just because some people give up, doesn't mean all of them give up. it's like saying 'i dont have cancer, cancer research should be stopped'.

guildwars is an mmo. but that's not All it is. to say that it exists only as a multiplayer game is in fact wrong. the ability to be isolated should be available. furthermore, even if it were a pure mmo and assuming that some people's skills are epically failing, that's their perogative. if someone wants to be an ass, they can be. if people get upset, that's their problem. for those of you who live in america, you should be familiar with the term 'restraining order'. it's a system that punishes those who are incessant, not those who are asses. not everyone wants to brown nose. for those of you who are good at it and as a result has nobody on ignore, good for you, some people aren't and don't want to be.

Im probably the most hated person in GW, but my friends list is full with a wall of gray text and my ignore list is empty. There is an easier way to deal with idiots in the game. Change your status to offline for a few minutes, or better yet, grow a thicker skin if you want to play MMOGs.

Oh, and I love having gay pride parties on the boat in RA. And I've never been banned for talking about homosexuality or religion in all chat ever, and I do it lots. The people who stand around complaining and getting aggressive over it are the ones with a problem.

Again you people just don't get it.
It's not about needing "thicker skin"
This is a GAME we come on to have fun and get AWAY from people that are annoying which is why we also have the option to ignore these people online.
Thats why we have a friends list so we can pick and choose who we want to talk to.
Its not like were adding people on ignore just because they said 1 thing we dont like(atleast im not).
Im adding people to ignore because they are relentless and just not responding to them just doesnt work, Going to DnD just doesnt work and ignoring them and taking them off the next day just doesnt work.
Again I have ONE person that takes up FIVE spaces in my ignore list because he has 5 accounts and if I remove his name he starts his whispers again which get annoying because they are spams which make it difficult to see any other chat. Its getting close to a year now and Ive tried taking him off every couple months and there he is. So dont tell me to get thicker skin or set to DnD it doesnt always work.
And just because you dont have anyone on your ignore list doesnt mean shit.
You say youre one of the most hated ever heard the saying misery loves company well there ya go. It takes sick or annoying people to continue to deal with sick or annoying people.

I pretty much just use ignore these days for guild spammers/account sellers/gold farmers, but it's gotten to the point where my ignore list is full in minutes, especially during festivals.

/signed, I wouldn't mind having a few extra slots.

Oh god Reverend Dr, the great troll of GWGuru. I laughed for a little bit at this. You may think you know how to troll but honestly you don't. The fact that you now post advice on a gaming forum is evidence enough that you don't know anything about trolling. Stop talking like you know anything.

Most of the GWGuru community seems to like playing alone, therefore doesn't come in contact with much people excluding there guild etc. So this suggestion obviously gets a fair bit of negative feedback because people can't understand why it would be needed. This game is only entertaining to me for the PvP and if you are the same as me you know how many people can't take losing. A bigger ignore list would be great and It's not going to hurt anyone in the process.

/signed unless you can tell me how it will have a negative impact on anything.

After reading this thread, I found that many here who are against a bigger ignore list seem to be the same kinds of people who make others want a bigger ignore list in the first place. Those who need it would benefit from it, and those who do not even use it would continue to not use it. If the primary argument against it is something as silly and demeaning as "people need thicker skin", then this is an easy one.
